It’s birthday time over at the Write Bitches, and I want to share a little extra something today.
It’s sexy, fun, and fast paced. Go on, check it out. You know you want to 😉
I’ve been a writing demon these past few months. Writing… rewriting… the dreaded editing stage… and now, with Monster set to be available for preorder on the 6th I decided to share a little gift with the not-so-patient.
A free short story!
From now until July 18th, you can get your eager little hands on Pale and Crimson, a nice, gruesome little short story set in the Outsider universe.
Slithers are vicious creatures. Craving flesh and blood, they will stop at nothing until their hunger is satisfied. So when sixteen year old Benjamin King discovers that one has been smuggled onto the train, he’s eager to see it, even if it has been drugged into a mindless stupor.
But one moment can change everything.
Set six years before Niko, Pale and Crimson chronicles how one decision can have far reaching consequences.

If you’re follower of my main blog, you may have already seen my super excited extra special announcement. If you’re not… well then you should be. But in any case, I’m happy to tell you guys that I’m finally finished with Monster, the fourth book in The Outsider Chronicles. It’s set to be released on July 18th and I’m so, so, SO EXCITED.
It’s going to be awesome.
In a world full of flesh eating creatures,
sometimes humans are the more terrifying monsters.
It’s been three months since revolution swept through the city of Cherai and ousted Councilwoman King. Banished, the city now has a chance to recover from decades of injustice and oppression. With the help of Ben, Songhay, and the Gemini Gang, Niko works towards building a more egalitarian society.
But someone is murdering Slither hunters.
And coupled with the councilwoman’s reappearance, all of Niko’s hard work balances on a precarious precipice – one wrong move and it will all be for naught.
As the number of bodies rise and the tensions within the city increase, Niko is soon forced to make a difficult decision. And it could change everything.
Sounds good, doesn’t it? You still have time to catch up the series, you can find Niko, book 1, hanging out on Amazon looking all badass and gorgeous. Enjoy!
I did it! I wrote the final sentence of Monster, book 4 of the Outsider Chronicles! Yay!
(Only six more chapters to go!)
I never realized this until writing book 4 but the closer I get to the final part of the story the slower I write. Which is weird because since I hop all over the place, the book isn’t finished after writing “The End” usually I have to go back and fill in that middle part I’ve been avoiding.
Despite knowing that, without fail, as the sentences wind down and “The End” is imminent, what should only take two hours gets spread out over three days. Maybe I’m savoring the moment. Maybe I don’t want to say goodbye to my precious babies (though after the hell I’ve put them through the definitely want to say goodbye to me!) Maybe I’m staving off that “What shall I do now?” feeling you get after completing your book.
I have no idea why it’s like that. I can only say one thing.
I usually wait till the last minute to share bits of my novel (what if I change things? What if I wind up deleting it? Is it too spoilery? *worry worry worry*)
But not this time!
Today, I just finished writing down a chapter that I absolutely love, that is practically, almost perfect, and deserves a lovely little teaser to titillate all the nice folk (im)patiently waiting for Book 4 of the Outsider Chronicles.
